Government Committed to Promoting Research, Skills and Leadership Among Youth: CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, July 21: Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government has released a budget of ₹20 crore for universities to promote research and innovation among students. He said the government is committed to empowering young people by nurturing research aptitude, democratic values and leadership skills. To achieve this, Youth Parliament competitions are being organised in colleges and universities, with the final round held in the Parliament of India, where participants from across the country compete.

The Chief Minister was addressing a Yuva Samvaad Programme and an interactive session with farmers and traders at the Apple Market in Pinjore, Panchkula, on Tuesday. Industries Minister Sh. Rao Narbir Singh, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana and MLA Shakti Rani Sharma were also present.

Responding to a suggestion by Sonakshi, a student of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, Karnal, the Chief Minister said the government has launched the Mission Buniyad programme to strengthen quality education in government schools. Under the programme, 103 government schools have been selected. Students from these schools are receiving additional quality coaching at the Super-100 Institute in Kurukshetra. He said the initiative has produced encouraging results, with students successfully clearing prestigious competitive examinations such as IIT-JEE and securing admission to premier institutions including IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee.

The Chief Minister informed that 400 students appeared in competitive examinations under the Super-100 programme this year, of whom 271 secured admission to reputed educational institutions across the country. He added that 61 students also qualified the NEET examination through the programme, which is a matter of pride for the state.

He said the state government is continuously strengthening educational infrastructure in government schools. As a result, deserving youth are now being selected for prestigious posts, including the Haryana Civil Services (HCS), purely on the basis of merit and transparency, without any “parchi” or “kharchi”. He said the reforms introduced by the government are now delivering visible and positive results.

 

 

Fruit Clusters Being Developed Across the State

Responding to a suggestion by Deepika, a student of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, regarding strengthening infrastructure in horticulture universities, the Chief Minister said development works are progressing rapidly to ensure timely completion of all projects.

He informed that regional centres and Centres of Excellence are being established in Ambala, Jhajjar and other locations. In addition, fruit clusters for kinnow, guava, strawberry and litchi are being developed across Haryana to enhance productivity and ensure better returns for farmers.

Manisha, a student of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, suggested constituting youth forces at the grassroots level in cities to promote sustainable development and recognising young people contributing to environmental conservation and other social causes through appreciation certificates.

 

Government Working to Make Youth Job Creators

The Chief Minister said young people are contributing across industries and various sectors. To provide industries with a skilled workforce and empower youth, the government has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), under which industry-oriented skill training is being imparted. This will improve employment opportunities and facilitate better placements for youth.

He further said that Skill Centres will also be established within industries to provide need-based training to young people, enabling them to secure employment more easily.

The Chief Minister said the government’s objective is not only to create job seekers but to develop job creators. Through schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, startup initiatives and other government programmes, financial assistance is being provided to young entrepreneurs according to their abilities and business requirements.

 

Government Considering Mobile Schools for Children of Migrant Workers

 

Alok, a student of Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh, suggested introducing mountaineering training to promote tourism and establishing mobile schools in every district for the children of migrant labourers.

Responding to the suggestion, the Chief Minister said the government is implementing a Zero Dropout Policy for the education of underprivileged children of labourers. Such children are being continuously tracked up to Classes V, VIII and XII to ensure they remain in school. He said the government is making sincere efforts to bring back children who have dropped out for any reason.

He informed that the Labour Department provides scholarships to such children and hostel facilities are also being made available. He added that the government would also consider the suggestion of introducing mobile schools.

Nidhi, a student of Indira Gandhi University, Rewari, suggested constituting coordination committees at the university level to promote social awareness and introducing skill development classes.

Responding to the suggestion, the Chief Minister said good values are developed from childhood. To instil discipline and social responsibility, Shramdaan periods will be introduced in schools. He said young people should broaden their interests beyond academic degrees and bookish knowledge by actively participating in sports and other creative activities.

 

Interaction with Traders

Construction of 132 kV Substation in Progress; Water Works to Be Built for Drinking Water Supply

Responding to a suggestion by trader Monu Mehta, the Chief Minister said construction of a water works for the Apple Market is underway to ensure adequate and clean drinking water for residents of Kalka and Pinjore. He added that drinking water issues in the Morni region would also be addressed.

He informed that construction of a 132 kV power substation is in progress to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the area.

Responding to another trader’s suggestion regarding reduction in market fee, the Chief Minister said the revenue collected is being utilised for developing the Apple Market into an ultra-modern facility and for improving infrastructure within the market. He assured that the matter would be discussed with the concerned officials to explore a suitable solution.

On another suggestion, the Chief Minister said a proposal has already been prepared for constructing a rest house for farmers at the market. He also informed that an Atal Canteen has been started for traders, and necessary arrangements for parking and security would also be ensured.
